Nathan Fillion, the actor known for his roles as Captain Malcolm in Firefly and as the title character in the crime-comedy Castle, has regularly appeared as the dream choice to play Nathan Drake in the elusive live-action Uncharted film from Sony Pictures. The most recent rumors suggest that Spider-man Homecoming's Tom Holland will be playing a young Nathan in the film, but Fillion has embraced the role in a fan-made short film. Watch the short, which comes to almost fifteen minutes, before Sony inevitably shuts it all down.
The short, spotted by Kotaku, is directed by Allan Ungar and written by Unger and Jesse Wheeler. Producer credits include Ungar, Wheeler, Louis Sallerson, Bruno Marino, and Nathan Fillion himself. In a bit of surprise, Stephen Lang also stars in the short as Victor "Sully" Sullivan. Fillion has a lot on his plate these days with the debut of his new cop show The Rookie, but potentially having Tom Holland build the series of films before a time-jump to an older Drake with Fillion in the role would be interesting.
Holland is related to another instance where a fan-casting was brought to life. Donald Glover (aka Childish Gambino) was the focus of an online campaign to cast him as Miles Morales and ended up getting a role as Miles's uncle in Spider-man: Homecoming. Whether this is Fillion's official campaign for a role in the movies or simply a treat for fans, we should be glad its here.
Enjoy and let us know what you think in Chatty. Stay tuned to Shacknews for more!
While it pales in comparison to Black Friday or even Boxing Day, Amazon’s Prime Day offers customers enrolled in Amazon’s Prime membership program access to a variety of exclusive deals. The event began back during the summer of 2015 when the internet commerce giant promoted the event to celebrate its 20th anniversary. Prime Day features constantly changing deals that run throughout the promotional period. If you are an Amazon Prime member, you’ll have a limited time to act if you want to secure some of these member-exclusive deals for yourself.
How Long Is Amazon Prime Day?
The fun begins for Prime members on July 16 at 3:00 PM ET (12:00 PM PT) for North America. The promotion is expected to run for 36 hours in total. If you have plans to do some discount shopping during Prime Day, you’ll need to complete your purchases by July 18 at 3:00 AM ET (12:00 AM PT). Any product that enjoys a Prime Day discount will return to its normal price beyond this time.
Amazon is offering early access to a variety of deals ahead of the official Prime Day start time. The majority of these offers are for its own products like Fire TV boxes or Alexa-enabled smart speakers, but the deals are hot. Additionally, you can find exclusive offers on things like Amazon Kindle Unlimited subscriptions or discount Prime Video rentals.
Prime Members can get a sneak peek at upcoming deals by visiting the Prime Day landing page. Under the upcoming deals, members can click on the “Watch This Deal” button and Amazon will send a notification when the deal for that specific item goes live. Good luck to all those planning on taking advantage of the Prime Day deals.
The new screenshots for Ripples don't reveal too much about the next episode, but the press release says that Louis de Richet will have to prevent the situation from spiraling out of control as characters reach their breaking points. There are more unexplored areas of the mansion in this episode as well.
Episode 3 of The Council releases on July 24, 2018, if you're playing with the season pass. The individual episode will be available two days later on July 26. Stay tuned to Shacknews for additional updates.
Greetings, travelers. It's resident Hearthstone Legend, esports follower, and all-around good guy Senior Editor, Ozzie Mejia.
As Greg Burke ever-so-tactfully pointed out, I'm the longest-tenured member of the Shacknews staff. This is a fact that's still tough to wrap my head around, considering I got my start as a GameFly intern back in 2010. Working around some of the best in the business like Garnett Lee, Xav de Matos, and Andrew Yoon (RIP, my friend), it's still hard to fathom that I wound up the last person standing out of that crew. I was one of the few to make it through the transition from the GameFly sale to the Asif Khan regime and have been a part of the team ever since. (Well, except for that one year that I went to work for Yahoo, which I returned from with a new perspective on the growing world of esports.)
Arguably, that's probably the biggest difference between me now and when I first began. I attended my first SoCal Regionals back in 2012 and saw the appeal of competitive Street Fighter. Competitive gaming only grew from there, as I've gotten into the world of Overwatch, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Hearthstone, and Rocket League. My first love remains fighting games, primarily Street Fighter, but I do love Super Smash Bros. (both Melee and Smash 4), which has completely changed how I approach those games.
I am the Southern California Shacknews presence and I've had the pleasure to meet several members of our Chatty community. (Megara9, let's meet up whenever I go to NorCal!) I hope to meet more of you soon and take awesome pictures, like the time I met sparkly and his entourage. Enjoy yourselves, be good, and enjoy the Shacknews Select video above. Meet the rest of the staff on our YouTube channel.
July's Xbox Live Gold deals are out, and you can snap up some sweet Games with Gold titles right now, if you're an active Xbox Live subscriber. There's a set of four new titles up for grabs that you can start playing today, including Assault Android Cactus, Death Squared, Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown, and Splinter Cell Conviction.
Both Death Squared and Assault Android Cactus are Xbox One titles, so unfortunately Xbox 360 owners won't be able to get in on the fun, but they'll be available throughout the entirety of July. Death Squared will only be available starting today and going throughout August 15.
Virtual Fighter 5 Final Showdown and Splinter Cell Conviction are free for Xbox One and Xbox 360 owners throughout July 31, however, so Xbox One owners get the better end of the deal here, by far. As a reminder, you can download these games and play them as long as you're an Xbox Live member, so you may as well go ahead and download them and add them to your collection, even if they're not really your thing.
Out of this batch, you should absolutely check out Splinter Cell Conviction, which is one of the best adventures we've ever gotten out of Sam Fisher. Where's our latest Splinter Cell game, anyway?
Gamers and online shoppers alike are eagerly awaiting time when all of Amazon's many Prime Day discounts will begin to roll out, but Amazon isn't the only company with plans for big sales that will start today. Target will also be offering its own flash sales on a variety of different products, and we've got a look at some of of the more interesting discounts on televisions, mobile devices, headphones, and other electronics that will be on sale at Target's online store during Prime Day today.
Target One Day Flash Sale Notable Discounts
Some of the more interesting discounts to be featured during Target's one day flash sale include lowered prices on Apple phones, Google branded electronics, LG and TCL televisions, headphones, video games, and more. Here are some of the highlighted discounts that may be of particular interest to Shacknews readers:
While most of these deals are slated to end later today, readers will note that the deals on Google products are set to run all the way through Saturday, July 21. For everything else, interested buyers should certainly move quickly, as Target will be removing the discounts and introducing new ones tomorrow. For everyone else, of course, there are still plenty of massive Amazon Prime Day discounts to be found.
Looking for a new addition to your 3DS collection? Look no further, because there's a great deal going on right now via Amazon Prime Day 2018 that'll get you together. Right now, you can pick up the Nintendo New 3DS XL - Super NES Edition with Super Mario Kart for just $149, $50 off its normal asking price.
You can pick up the retro-vicious New 3DS XL via Amazon's Prime Day deal listing, including an AC adapter, since Nintendo doesn't include those pesky things with the systems anymore. Weird! Who'd want to charge up their newly-acquired console, right? No one uses electricity for anything!
Here's the inside of that bad boy, just in case you needed another reason to be interested.
For more Amazon Prime Day 2018 deals, make sure to keep checking back at Shacknews. We're going to be keeping an eye out for all the goodies on offer today so you don't have to. That's us, doing the dirty work for you!
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is the latest entry in Nintendo's ongoing premier platform fighter series. It's also slated to be the company's biggest release of the holiday season. After almost 20 years of battle between top characters of some of gaming's biggest franchises, Ultimate will bring together every single fighter from every Smash Bros. game to date (along with a few more) in one single game.
With so many characters to choose from, Shacknews is taking a look at each and every one of the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate characters individually, leading up to the game's big release on December 7. Because many aspects of the game are subject to change, including character damage and special move properties, these profiles should not be considered final and can be updated at any time. Any guide that has been updated will be clearly marked.
Today, we continue with the most well-recognized character in SEGA'S history.
Who is Sonic?
Blue streak speeds by Sonic the Hedgehog! Too fast for the naked eye Sonic the Hedgehog! Sonic! He can really move! Sonic! He's got an attitude! Sonic! He's the fastest thing alive!
Sonic the Hedgehog is Sega's top mascot and has been the face of the company since its console heyday and beyond. He's still beloved to this day, which is partially why some of his 3D outings are so frustrating, but that's an entirely different conversation. Sonic has been saving the world from the threat of Dr. Eggman for over 25 years, using his supersonic speed to run across loops and straight through danger. His speed is only matched by his cool factor, an intangible that nobody else on the Smash Bros. roster possesses. It was never more evident than Sonic's debut in the Smash Bros. series, something I touched on in our retrospective of Super Smash Bros. Brawl's Subspace Emissary story mode.
Sonic has starred in many platformers, some of which even star other versions of the classic character. There's Sonic Boom, Sonic Mania, Sonic Generations, and the list goes on. Sonic has dabbled in other genres, like the upcoming Team Sonic Racing, and has even buried the hatchet with Mario and co-starred with the portly plumber for the Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games series.
Sonic's Moves and Fighter Overview
I'm not sure if anyone knows this, but Sonic is fast. He's very fast. He's the fastest thing alive and has the fastest dashing speed on the Smash Bros. roster. His moves take advantage of his speed, while also borrowing from elements of his games.
Here are Sonic's special moves:
Homing Attack (Neutral B): Lifts Sonic off the ground and homes in on the nearest opponent. Hit B a second time to execute the move early..
Spring Jump (Up B): Pull out a spring from the classic Sonic games and use it to launch the blue hedgehog skyward. The move itself causes no damage, but it's one of the best recovery options in the game. The spring itself can also bop an opponent on its way down for minor damage.
Spin Dash (Side B): Sonic's signature move can be charged up before he launches himself at opponents. Has great combo potential, though it apparently can no longer be shield canceled.
Spin Charge (Down B): Acts like the Spin Dash, but is more for walloping nearby foes for multiple hits. Keep hitting B to extend the combo.
Super Sonic (Final Smash): Sonic uses the Chaos Emeralds to become Super Sonic and fly across the screen, causing massive damage and potentially KO-ing anyone in his way. This move will be faster now than it was in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS.
Sonic has several attacks that can reliably connect with opponents, like his dive kick and his Homing Attack, but while they'll do a lot of damage, Sonic isn't exactly a KO master. Sonic's more about outrunning his opponent and isn't for the more aggressive player, though he can be played that way. He also has some incredible recovery options, for those who opt to play the keep-away game.
What's changed about Sonic since Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS? Sonic adjusts his arsenal slightly with a dashing kick and a faster Homing Attack. But as noted, Sonic's Spin Dash can no longer be canceled, which takes away one of the hedgehog's big weapons. Super Sonic will also move much faster than before.
Esports Observations
Looking to play like an expert? I'm not one of those by any stretch of the imagination. Fortunately, Shacknews has scoured the web for breakdowns from the top competitive Smash Bros. players and personalities in the world for some more detailed opinions.
In breaking down Mario, we noted that one of the best ways to learn is through direct observation. We broke down Gonzalo "ZeRo" Barrios' Mario play during the E3 Smash Invitational, where he rode the plumber to victory. Did you miss that Grand Finals? Let's rewatch it below.
While ZeRo had plenty to say about Mario during the Nintendo Power podcast, he also had a few observations about Sonic, who was on the opposing side during that Grand Finals set. Shacknews quoted ZeRo last time about Sonic's Spin Dash nerf, but that wasn't all that he had to say about the character.
"It's hard to react to certain things and Sonic is too fast," ZeRo told the Nintendo Power crew. "Like, I have amazing reaction time. I'm the kind of person who can react to... few frame windows to several things. I can just react on the spot sometimes and Sonic, when he runs past you, you can't tell. It's impossible. If he runs at you, I can't tell if he's going to jump or grab. We have to guess. So that makes Sonic difficult to deal with at a top-level plane, because a good player can mix you up consistently and then it becomes the point where you don't react, so you can't consistently do it, because guessing is guessing. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you don't, but you can decrease the luck by reacting. But because Sonic is so fast, you can't react, so that makes him amazing. That's basically why Sonic is really good right now and couple that with the fact that he has a back-throw that kills, he has grab combos that no other character has, his Forward-Smash is absolutely ridiculous, his back-air has this slice of New York City, like it's actually humongous, like back-air stays off forever, always gets the strong hit, and even if he gets the weak hit, it puts him in a spot where you can back-air again, so it's one of the best moves, for sure."
While ZeRo has seen the positives in Sonic, a handful of the Sonic mains out in the Smash world are crestfallen with the loss of the Spin Dash shield cancel. Here's top Japanese Sonic player Kengo "KEN" Suzuki reacting to the news.
The Sonic faithful are otherwise still looking to get accustomed to some of his minor tweaks, taking the most recent opportunity at CEO 2018 to get their hands on the character. The folks at Most Valuable Gaming and Smash Studios both got a chance to capture a couple of matches.
But at least one other person might be converted to the Sonic user base. That's the guy who used Sonic at the Smash Invitational, Leonardo "MkLeo" Lopez. Despite losing, Leo sees the potential in Sonic and is apparently excited to learn the character a little better.
Well he didnt die in winners finals by the snake's uptilt and the sonic back air in last game...i wanted to win... but still have so much fun The game is awesome but bayo tho lol I love smash im playing sonic in smash5 at least as a secondary Thank you everyone!
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is set to arrive in December on Nintendo Switch. Shacknews will continue looking into each of the game's characters from now through the big day, so be sure to come back for more breakdowns over the coming weeks.
David and Asif are back in Ohio just in time to talk about some terrible news. LeBron James has decided to leave for Los Angeles, and the repercussions of this decision will be felt in Northeast Ohio for years to come. The gang also talks about video games. Asif gushes over Just Shapes and Beats while David talks about his latest addiction to Hollow Knight.
Prime Day is huge for Amazon fans who like to shop online, but today's sales and discounts won't exactly be easy to browse, as the Amazon website experienced a crash almost immediately after Prime Day went live, and current links to sale item categories are not working as intended.
Update: it appears that the Amazon Prime Day sales pages are back up and functioning, though some site features may not be operating quite as intended. Original story follows.
Users dropping by the Amazon website will be automatically directed to the Prime Day homepage, which currently showcases a number of sales across a variety of items. However, the links below the revolving item listing — the ones for categories like toys, electronics, and so on — currently redirect to a page that doesn't list any sales. Clicking on the "Browse All Deals" button drops users back to the main page, effectively disallowing anyone from browsing the sales.
To make matters worse, some users can't even see the main Amazon Prime sale page — instead, they're redirected to an error page, typically one that links users to a page about the various dogs of Amazon. As such, even consumers browsing listed links from other websites are unable to see specific item discounts, as the page appears to be removed or otherwise inaccessible.
We know just how big Prime Day can be for Amazon shoppers, so we'll be sure to keep our eye on the current Amazon website status, and will report back when the website is no longer down or stuck in a link loop. Until then, so long as Amazon is still down, users can always browse some of the flash sale discounts being offered at Target for a limited time.
Update 1:12 p.m. PT: the links to product categories and "all deals" on Amazon have been pulled down from the landing page. As such, all of the Prime Deal listings on the main page are gone until Amazon can sort out a fix for the crash.
Update 1:20 p.m. PT: though the main Amazon Prime Day landing page is still being worked on, users can now browse all Amazon Prime day listings by clicking on the animated box near the top of the page or by following this link to the Amazon Prime Day sales listings.
Update 1:26 p.m. PT: it appears that Amazon has finally fixed the crash that kept Prime Day discount web pages down, as the primary landing page now reflects Prime Day sales categories, and all links seem to be functioning as intended.
Update 2:02 p.m. PT: some users are still reporting issues with various parts of the Amazon webpage, including being unable to access their shopping cart and a search bar that doesn't appear to accept any search queries. Amazon is surely still looking into the issue.
Amazon Prime Day 2018 is underway and the deals and the best deals are being highlighted at a rapid pace. Amazon's website isn't the only place where gamers can get Prime deals, though, as HTC Vive has decided to join in with the festivities. Starting today and lasting until 8:59 PM PT, Amazon Prime members who purchase a Vive Pro HMD during Prime Day 2018 will receive a bonus $50 Amazon gift card along with a $50 Viveport card.
If you've yet to check out our hands-on impressions with the HTC Vive Pro, the HMD is a noticeable improvement for VR experiences. It's a boost for the Vive and for VR in general, improving the guts of the HMD as well as the ergonomics. Comfort plays a big part in the immersion of virtual reality and improving both of those points takes the immersion to the next level.
Moss, the charming critically acclaimed VR adventure, and the two episodes of The Gallery are highlighted on the Vive blog as some of the best ways to spend the bonus gift cards and we totally back those suggestions. You could also use both to grab a Vive Tracker and enhance the immersive VR experience by attaching it to real-world objects. Stay tuned to Shacknews for more Amazon Prime Day 2018 deals, which will be shifting and changing throughout the next few days.
Anyone who has kept their finger on the pulse of video games coverage over the last decade has seen the industry shift towards video content and streaming. Twitch.tv has become a cornerstone of the video game industry, offering thousands of hours of video game content every day. With millions of eyes on the product, streaming is a big business and something the average reader of this site cares about. This lead Shacknews to start a new focus on streaming, including the launch of a regular weekday Twitch stream on the Official Shacknews Twitch Channel. Because the regular Shacknews staff has been stretched thin to keep you informed with the latest video game news, guides, and reviews, a new member was brought on to spearhead the daily streams. Ladies and gentlemen, may we present The Wolf.
Shacknews co-owner and Editor-In-Chief Asif Khan (The Man With The Briefcase) first met The Wolf last summer. Khan was careless about leaving untied garbage bags of kitchen waste in his backyard. Naturally, this attracted wildlife to his property that would otherwise roam the wilderness. While out walking his dog Lola one evening, Khan was confronted by a large wolf that was plundering through a garbage bag full of taco remnants. He attempted to scare away The Wolf with no success. As The Wolf snarled at him, Khan asked The Wolf if he was familiar with the media’s pivot to video and if he was comfortable streaming games.
As it turns out, The Wolf had quite a bit of experience from when he starred in the cult classic fighting game Bloody Roar as Yugo and then later on when he streamed Okami to the pups in his den over Google Hangouts. The Wolf was brought onto the Shacknews staff on a probationary trial and began hosting afternoon Twitch streams. Khan assigned News Editor Charles Singletary to help The Wolf with the streams and to make sure he didn’t chew the cables or leave carcasses in the studio.
The Wolf has now been semi-successfully hosting the Shacknews daily Twitch streams for almost half a year now. As part of the Shacknews team that traveled to E3 2018 in Los Angeles, The Wolf sat down with Greg Burke the video jerk to talk about working for Shacknews and the experience of operating daily streams. When asked how the streaming schedule affects his duties protecting his family in the pack, The Wolf began growling. As Greg continued with the questioning, The Wolf grew increasingly agitated and began snapping at Greg and the rest of the technical crew. Animal control was dispatched to the convention center, but by the time they arrived, The Wolf had left the property. Burke and the rest of the Shack staff at E3 2018 were taken to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and administered precautionary rabies shots.
As everyone scours Amazon for Prime Day deals, it's important to remember that deals go beyond the internet's biggest retailer. In fact, one of the best gaming deals of the week may come directly from developer IO Interactive, which is about to offer up an episode of its acclaimed Hitman season for free.
Tomorrow the HITMAN: Summer Pack arrives. Giving you access to download Episode 3: Marrakesh. It's FREE to download for a limited time only.
Starting Tuesday, July 17, players can download Hitman on PC, PlayStation 4, or Xbox One and pick up the season's third episode, Marrakesh, completely free of charge. This will include everything attached that to third episode, including the Gilded Cage mission, Escalation contracts, Elusive Targets, and additional challenges.
This freebie won't be around forever and can disappear at any time. No word on how long the Hitman Summer Pack will be available, but better err on the side of caution and pick it up as soon as it becomes available on Tuesday. It might even help you get ready for Hitman 2 when it releases later this year.
Looking to take part in gaming's next great collision course? Final Fantasy XIV and Monster Hunter World are about to be mashed up, in a big way. Starting August 7, Final Fantasy XIV players will be able to fight off the "King of the Skies," Rathalos, from Monster Hunter World.
The addition to the game is part of the Patch 4.36 update, which comes along with the newest installment of The Pagos Expedition. If you're a level 40 Final Fantasy XIV player and have already completed the main scenario quest, Stormblood, you'll be able to take on either Normal or Extreme versions of the Rathalos quest, known as "The Great Hunt." The Normal version will allow eight players to tackle the massive task, but the Extreme version will only let four players work together to defeat Rathalos, so choose wisely.
There's also a ton of goodies to look forward to, such as the Poogie and Palico minions, Rathalos armor set, a BBQ spit, and even a Rathalos mount that you can ride around throughout Eorzea. Yeah, that's going to be awesome.
If you're looking forward to seeing it all come together, you've got the rest of the month and a few days to get your squad together so you can make all those cool new items yours. And if you're more of a Monster Hunter World fan anyway, remember that there's also an event going on within Monster Hunter World that brings Final Fantasy sights and monsters to the game. Make sure you don't miss out!

Best Prime Day 2018 Deals on HDTVs and 4K Televisions
Some of the hottest deals on standard HDTVs and 4K television sets are being offered on the new Toshiba series produced in conjunction with Amazon, the likes of which feature built-in Fire TV functionality. The new Toshiba 4K sets in particular should be a good match for users trying to find a 4K display on a budget, as they're priced to move quickly and can run most of the biggest 4K streaming services without the need for any additional set-top boxes or devices.
Of course, users who want to get the best displays that money can buy while still enjoying significant savings can always opt for more quality-oriented models and pick up any Amazon Fire device as well, as almost the entire suite of Amazon-branded electronics are also discounted during Prime Day 2018. Here are some of the more notable discounts we've seen on HD and 4K TVs:
As usual, there are loads more Prime Day deals and discounts to be had, and users can find the latest by heading over to the Amazon Prime Day 2018 website. Otherwise, we've got a few different deal roundups available for readers over on Shacknews' Amazon Prime Day 2018 home page.
Brace yourselves. Today’s the day you’ve had marked on your calendar for months and months. No, not because you’ve been looking forward to the upcoming JRPG, Octopath Traveler, but because you’re childishly supertitious and today is Friday the 13th. The family had the clairvoyance necessary to dodge this supernatural bullet earlier in the week by scheduling their recording a day before their usual Friday show. The Time Demons were wise to us though, and strengenthed their curse on our podcast tenfold causing all manner of both technical and audio trouble … which you will now have the pleasure of being party to.
On today’s show (can I really call it that this week) we talk to John while he’s in a rented Kia in California, driving to an appointment. This, if you’re ever thinking about putting a podcast together, is a terrible idea and I should’ve known better. When his connection inevitably fails, and the 3 remaining father brothers are left with no real paternal presence (sorry Buff), they turn to each other to discuss what was a relatively light week in gaming news. Fortunately, though, we did learn a bit more about Techland’s upcoming Dying Light 2which looks really cool. Tune in for that and a number of other interesting gaming tidbits on this week’s episode. Thanks for listening!
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker released this week on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS. The game will be a largely familiar experience for anyone who played the original game on the Wii U back in 2014. But these newer versions of the game do offer up a few new features. The most intriguing feature is a series of levels based in the world of Super Mario Odyssey.
So how does one get to these stages? Sure, it's possible to play through the entirety of Captain Toad's original Wii U adventure, but that's going to take some time. What about the person who wants to get to the Inverted Pyramid and New Donk City right away? Fortunately, there's a shortcut.
Do you own any of the three Super Mario Odyssey amiibo figures? They're the key to getting to these new stages. Take out any of the following amiibo:
Wedding Mario
Wedding Peach
Wedding Bowser
Scan the amiibo and the game will recognize it as a "Wedding" amiibo. The game will return to the main menu, with a new "Bonus" mode. This Bonus mode contains four stages based in the world of Super Mario Odyssey, which includes a visit to the Inverted Pyramid, New Donk City, and a battle against the Cookatiel boss from the Luncheon Kingdom.
Each of these stages has their own distinct challenges and unique Super Mario Odyssey-related mechanics. Best of luck and go for the high score!
We Happy Few remains one of the more interesting games in development and Compulsion Games has put together a new trailer that showcases how crazy things will get in Wellington Wells. Take a look at this latest window into the pill-popping dystopian world of We Happy Few.
If this trailer has you interested, take a look at the Shacknews hands-on preview of We Happy Few. The game will release on August 10 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
Fortnite: Battle Royale continues to be a game that dominates gamers’ playtime and with the release of Season 5, players want to know how to level up fast. Leveling up grants all sorts of awesome cosmetic items like emotes, skins, and outfits, so finding the most efficient method is key to skipping a lot of grinding.
Level Up Fast in Season 5
The Season 5 Battle Pass is now live, so players looking to get all the neat items will want to focus on leveling up as fast as possible. The faster a player levels, the sooner they’ll unlock the best items (like the new emotes and skins), and while there’s not some glitch to get players to max level, there are things which will help focus the effort.
Probably the most obvious thing players can do to level up fast is to focus on the challenges. Whether the challenges are the free ones offered for all players or the ones tied to the Battle Pass, completing them is key to a rapid increase in levels. At the moment, players with the Battle Pass should be trying to find all lightning bolts, as this will give a good chunk of XP.
Another way to level up fast – though not nearly as reliable – is to wait for a double XP event. These come around every so often, but they’re likely not frequent enough for a player looking for a quick way to level.
Ideally, players should pick up the Battle Pass, as it offers significantly more challenges over the course of Season 5. It will set players back 950 V-bucks, so make sure you know how to get more V-bucks! And, of course, make sure you try to get that sweet Victory Royale, as surviving to the final moments is going to award more experience than dying in the first few seconds.
